This year 2020 is very special. The world has been hit by a pandemic. Extreme political decisions have been made to fight its progression. We all know about the famous Covid-19 lockdown that has changed so many lives worldwide. As Mata Amritanandamayi is overwhelmed with compassion, she had to play her part too. But apparently things unfolded in a strange way.

Children trade?

The charities related to adults are broadly advertised but Amma scarcely talks in detail about the way she takes care of the children. Her organization runs an orphanage. What good is she doing to the world thanks to that? We don't know much about it so we can only rely on the word of mouth from bloggers and online commenters.

We have noticed that the significant means mainly come from powerfull Western partners. We debate a lot about the now famous FCRA. Their is something weird in the way that Amma® declares her foreign incomes and their use. But in face of our nasty attacks, she claims that her account books are neat and clean.

Fanciful FCRA

Some of our posts deal with the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). Each year Indian NGOs must declare to the government the funds that they got from foreign countries. Being strongly connected to Western countries, the M.A. Math cannot escape the rule. The accounts given by Amritapuri are available online.
Some devotees of the "Thugging Saint" pretend that we are misunderstanding the numbers, so let's take a closer look at them.

The Facebook page Guruphiliac which aims at warning against the many spiritual fraudsters of this modern world has published a media release to expose Amritanandamayi's controversial issue. Business family

Amritanandamayi has been often asked to explain the sudden and tremendous wealth of her family. According to Gail Tredwell, the devotees donations have been partly funneled to their pockets. Amritanandamayi's explanation adds a little more crack to her compassionate Saint image.

Money shortage?

ETW doesn't deny it, 60% of the donations are poured into a foreign bank account. The official speeches assert that it is a precaution in case there is less donation one day : "These cash reserves secure the funding of ongoing projects and help offset possible shortages". There is something wrong with this explanation.

Poor answer from the Swiss Amma center

Following the publication of an article about Gail Tredwell's book in the Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger, the Swiss Amma Center added a reply on its website. Unsurprisingly, they say that it's all false. What they say to support Amma cannot be taken seriously. The quotes are based on Google's automatic translation.

An article entitled Schwere Vorwürfe gegen Umarmerin Amma has been published in the Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger in February 2014. The automatic translation makes it sound weird, so hard for the english speakers to understand much of it. This is a more suitable translation. In the last paragraph "TA" stands for the name of the newspaper.
