A few weeks ago, The Times of India reported that an edit war was raging on Wikipedia since the publication of the book Holy Hell :
"The text regarding the controversial book which was updated into the Wikipedia page of Mata Amritananda Mayi was removed citing that the article was poorly sourced. While some editors argued that the controversial article must be part of the page, others challenged it by citing that the text is a violation of Biographies of Living Persons policy of Wikipedia"At the end of the article, an anonymous Wikipedia volunteer assert that a group is working to sanitize Amritanandamayi's page :
"Even if the text is unbiased, but referring to a controversial incident, they will remove it"Many events have been thus removed from her page like the nurses strike beatings, Swathi Krishna's scandal or Satnam Singh's death. But this time, the Wikipedia contributors Drajay1976 and Xrie have decided to not let the mentions about Holy Hell be discarded so easily. They have filed a request for mediation in February 2014. The aim is to determine which Wikipedia policies should be applied in the current issue. According to the choices that will be made, the text can be withdrawn, modified or left unchanged.
The talks are currently ongoing between the four protagonists under the mediation of a Wikipedia representative. The contributors think that Amritanandamayi is a famous figure, so the main public events related to her should be reported in her biography. The whitewashers claim that the issue about Holy Hell is just made of gossips and must not be allowed in the page. They have elaborated 3 drafts so far. To be continued ...
