In a previous post, we have already put the stress under the fact that the tsunami relief quicly turned into a political and religious bargain. The homaless have been twice victims, a first time for natural reasons, a second time for human ones.
In relation to this humanitarian project an argument is often used to emphasize the compassion of Amritanandamayi. The Math has been the first NGO in India to complete Tsunami-relief houses according to government specifications and hand over to the Tsunami-affected population in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu. This statement gives the feeling that her organisation is the most efficient of all.
But we have found an article that gives us another point of view. The tsunami relief brought about a religious battle were each camp was accusing the others of using the houses building as a pretext to make massive conversions. In such a context accusations and threats were common :
"some Hindu radicals threatened other NGOs not to start their work ahead of Mata Amritanandamayi´s group"Is it true? If such is the case then it explains why the M.A. Math has won the race to reconstruction. It can eventually happen that NGOs compete for excellence and threaten each others to take advantage. But in this specific case it implies to unfairly play with the life of people who have lost everything. One of Amritanandamayi's most advertised charity is likely to be a cruel drama.
